Somalia: Northwestern Integrated Rural Development Programme Phase II (NWIRDP-II)
This programme is entirely funded by a BFFS grant. Specific objectives are to:
- Improve health, nutrition and sanitation
- Introduce sustainable improvements to productivity within agriculture and livestock sectors
- Set up a community-driven development process to help communities identify and prioritise their needs
- Improve access to quality rural health, water and sanitation facilities
In its second phase, the programme will help consolidate and upscale watershed management, public health and improved agriculture and livestock production. Already the programme has made good progress; the programme coordination unit is now fully staffed and the project has moved to the implementation phase.
