Roots
and Tubers Market-Driven Development Programme (PNDRT)
This programme promotes the development of the roots and tubers sector and improvements in food security and incomes for the poor. Activities target women in particular, because of their key role in this rural sector.
The aims of the programme are to:
- build capacity among small-scale roots and tubers producers and processors to assist them in more effectively organizing, planning and managing the sector’s development, in an integrated, open and sustainable manner
- achieve a sustainable improvement in access by producers’ organizations to local, national and subregional markets
The programme will also contribute to boosting the production of roots and tubers, using post-harvest treatment and processing techniques that can be adopted widely by poor farmers. This programme is one of the first to implement Cameroon’s rural development strategy.
