Zone Lacustre Development Project - Phase II

The project’s goals are to increase family income, and improve the standard of living and food security of the families of farmers and herders in the Lacustre area. Protecting the environment is also one of the project’s priorities.

Phase II of the project builds on the achievements of the first phase, ongoing from 1987 to 1996, particularly in the areas of animal production, flood recession crop and irrigated crop productivity, water management and flood control in the developed areas.

Phase II emphasizes that improvements in agricultural production must go hand in hand with improvements in living conditions, particularly in relation to public health and safety.
