Agricultural Reconstruction Programme in Northern and Eastern Uganda

The project was designed to enable smallholders to produce enough food for their families and accumulate surpluses to sell. The increased food production was achieved by providing basic agricultural, livestock and fishing needs, such as hand tools, fertilizers, seeds, vehicles, livestock medicine and fishing nets. In addition to increasing food security in the short term, the project set the stage for longer-term agricultural development and rehabilitation in the area through a follow-up project that would place more emphasis on supporting institutions.
