Wulin Mountains Minority-Areas Development Project

This five-year project operates in the resource-poor, densely populated Wulin Mountains in East Guizhou and West Hunan provinces. Indigenous people comprise about 80 per cent of the project area’s population, which has an average income of US$63. The project aims to reduce chronic poverty and improve living conditions by boosting agricultural production and improving community access to potable water, health care, education facilities and financial services. Other activities include the promotion of microenterprises and the formation of small village groups to disseminate information and mobilize their communities.
