Southern Uplands Rural Development Project Phase II

At the time of operation, the project area accounted for 37 percent of the country’s population and 36 percent of its cultivated land. The main objective of the project was to improve the living conditions and increase the farm income of poor rural people. By the time IFAD closed its operation there, extension had covered about 70 percent of the land and 41 percent of the villages in the project area.
