Michele is a Visiting Senior Program Associate at the Center for Global Development in Washington, DC. In 2011 she was a Visiting Fellow at the Global Economic Governance Programme at University College, Oxford. Prior to that, during her 29 years at the World Bank Michele worked on industrial organization, environment and climate issues. Her last position was Senior Manager of the Environment Department where she led the preparation of the WB's new corporate Environment Strategy and managed a team of staff responsible for the World Bank's work on climate change, environmental economics, biodiversity, pollution management and other environmental issues. She led the global consultations for the World Bank’s "Strategic Framework for Development and Climate Change," approved by the WB Executive Board in October 2008, and helped to set up the Climate Investment Funds, a $6.8 billion fund for investment in climate mitigation, adaptation and forestry in developing countries. She holds degrees in finance from MIT and bacteriology from the University of California, Berkeley.
