On 19 February 2008, Joachim von Braun, Director-General of IFPRI, visited IFAD and gave a presentation on the world food situation.

The world food situation is currently being redefined by new driving forces. Income growth, climate change, high energy prices, globalization, and urbanization are transforming food consumption, production, and markets.
