Information note for Participants

Location

The Workshop will be held on Wednesday, 19 and Thursday, 20 September 2001 (expected to end at approximately 15.30 hrs), at the Silva Hotel Splendid in Corso Nuova Italia 40, Fiuggi, Italy. Accomodation

Accommodation for participants has been arranged at the Silva Hotel Splendid and will be confirmed by IFAD according to travel schedules which participants are kindly requested to send as soon as possible.

Secretariat

The Secretariat will start operating at the Silva Hotel Splendid as of Tuesday 8 September.

Registration

Registration will start on Tuesday, 18 September 2001 from 16.00 hrs to 18.00 hrs and continue on Wednesday 19 September from 08.00 hrs to 09.00 hrs at the Registration Desk located outside the Plenary Hall. Participants are requested to register and collect their identity badge allowing access to the meeting rooms. Participants are required to wear their badge within the area of the meetings at all times for easy identification.

List of participants

A provisional list of participants will be made available upon registration. The final list, based on registration data, will be issued on Wednesday, 19 September 2001.

Distribution of documents

The Documents/Information Desk will be located outside the Plenary Hall. Participants may collect documents related to the Workshop, if needed, immediately after registration. Documents relevant to the working groups will be distributed according to the order of the day and/or as soon as available.

Meeting rooms and hours

The Inaugural Session on Wednesday, 19 September will take place in the Plenary Hall at 09.00 hrs. The working groups will meet thereafter in assigned meeting rooms according to the schedule of work.

Hospitality and catering

Coffee breaks will be organized according to the programme in the morning and afternoon, and will be served in the garden.

A welcoming cocktail will be offered to all participants on Tuesday 18 September at 18.30 hrs.

A Buffet luncheon for all participants will be served in the veranda restaurant at the end of each morning session.

Entry VISAS to Italy

Entry visas, when required, should be obtained prior to departure.

Travel arrangements

Participants travelling at IFAD’s expenses and authorized to buy their own ticket, will be reimbursed upon arrival in Fiuggi.

Transportation

An IFAD staff member will be available at Fiumicino airport to direct participants to the shuttle bus which will take them to the hotel in Fiuggi according to established schedules to be communicated as soon as available.

There is a direct train from the Airport to Rome Termini Train Station. A train connects Rome Termini Train Station to Fiuggi (and return) almost every hour. Please consult the schedule on: www.fs-on-line.it or www.fs-on-line.com.

To reach Fiuggi by car take the A1 Rome-Naples highway, exit at "Anagni-Fiuggi Terme" and proceed for 17 kms on the "Superstrada Anticolana". The trip takes approximately one and a half hours.

Disbursements

Upon arrival in Fiuggi, participants travelling at IFAD’s expenses will receive the established DSA to cover costs of evening meals, telephone calls and other personal expenses.

Banking facilities

Regular banking hours in Italy are from 08.30 to 13.30 hrs.

The nearest banks are located at walking distance from the hotel, on Corso Nuova Italia.

Medical services

Medical assistance is available within the hotel during the full duration of the Workshop. The Secretariat will liaise with the nearest hospital for any emergencies during the Workshop.

Information on Fiuggi

Fiuggi is located at 60 Kms from Rome City centre and 90 Kms from Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) Airport.

Immersed in a marvelous setting of natural greenery and surrounded by mountains, Fiuggi is one of Europe’s most renowned spa centres. The waters, which spring from this area, have been famed since ancient times for their healing and cleansing properties. Fiuggi also offers cultural events and historic sites.

The average temperature during the month of September is 15-25° C.

Electric voltage in Italy is 220 volt AC. For most foreign appliances it is best to purchase an adapter or transformer to link in with local electric power.
