A. Access to land: trends, challenges and opportunities. Role and perspectives of FOs

  • National Policy articulation and implementation
  • Follow-up to ICARRD
  • African Union/ECA/ADB initiative on a pan-African land policy framework
  • IFAD’s Draft Policy on Access to Land and Land Tenure Security
  • IFAD/FOs partnerships in promoting pro-poor policies on land and tenure security
 

B. FO experiences with, and lessons learned from, engagement with, and influence over, policy processes regarding smallholder, family agriculture

  • Examples of successful experiences at national/regional level
  • Role of FOs in advocating for, and shaping, pro-poor agriculture policies
  • Role of IFAD in support of FO engagement with policy processes

 

 

C. Climate change and smallholder agriculture: Perspectives of FOs

  • Priorities of FOs in relation to adaptation and mitigation

13-14 February 2008 - 31st Governing Council of IFAD

The participants in the Farmers’ Forum are all invited to the Governing Council with observer’s status.  They will have the opportunity to participate in the three round tables on 14 February, which are organized on the topics of: biofuels; climate change and commodity prices.

The Farmers’ Forum Synthesis of Deliberations will be delivered to the Council during its plenary sessions on 14 February.

During the two days of the Council, parallel meetings will be organized among representatives of farmers’ organizations and IFAD staff about particular initiatives and experiences. Finally, any side events that might be organized during the two days of the Council will be open to all participants of the Farmers’ Forum.
