The publication provides information on IFAD's programme to support gender mainstreaming in eastern and southern Africa. The programme, still in its early stages, includes field diagnostic studies in selected countries and regional workshop. Both of these are expected to lead to the implementation of pilot activities for testing new approaches to gender mainstreaming in IFAD-supported projects.
