IFAD operates with a highly motivated staff of more than 538, both at Headquarters in Rome and also in the field.

The staff consists of about 312 professional and higher-category positions and about 226 general service positions. Staff members are nationals of 82 Member States, reflecting IFAD’s diverse membership and merit-based recruitment process. Within the Professional and National Officers categories, women constituted 43 per cent of staff, whereas in the General Service category, women represented 81 per cent. Overall, women make up 59 per cent of IFAD staff.

Under the leadership of its Governing Council and Executive Board, IFAD is managed by the Office of the President and Vice-President, with departments covering financial operations, corporate services, strategy and knowledge management, and programme management. See organizational chart.
