In the Wake of War was co-produced by the UN agency IFAD and the Television Trust for the Environment (TVE).

James Heer was the programme's producer, writer and director. It was edited by Declan McCormack, photographed by Prospero Bozzo and executive produced by Brenda Kelly of TVE. Ken Myhr composed the documentary's musical score.

Myhr, a former member of the band Cowboy Junkies, used traditional Burundian instruments, such as amashako and ibishikizo drums, as well as the kalimba, mbira and thumb piano heard throughout Africa.
