A convoy of trucks moves down a dusty, sun-baked stretch of road linking the Ngara refugee camp in North-Western Tanzania with Mugano, a transit centre on Burundi's eastern border. Inside the trucks are hundreds of refugees who believe that Burundi 's bitter 10-year civil war may be coming to an end. Philippe Mvuyekurye, a 25-year-old coffee farmer, is among those going home.

"I haven't heard anything from my mother and my family since I fled five years ago," he says. "I miss them and want to see them."
