Cacao is king

By looking at the expanding worldwide market for organic cacao, smallholder producers in Northern Ecuador like Nelisa Panesu, President of the Canton Verde Cacao Producers Association, are building a better life for themselves. one chocolate bar at a time.
"Nowadays with all the training that we've received from different projects - the management of our orchards, better pruning techniques and any number of other best practices that help better the productivity - our life has gotten much better," Panesi said.
