Bela Gil

"Healthy food should be a right for everyone and I work towards a future where we are not only surviving, but thriving."

Considered the “muse of healthy eating” by Brazilian magazine Veja, Chef Bela Gil is building an impressive curriculum as a chef, writer, TV host and activist.

Bela earned a degree in Nutrition and Food Science at Hunter College, and later the title of Natural Cuisine Chef from the Natural Gourmet Institute, both in New York City. In 2019, she became a Master in Slow Food Gastronomic Sciences at the Università di Scienze Gastronomiche di Pollenzo, in Italy.

Through her books, TV shows, and social media (with 2.5 million followers and counting), Bela advocates for a holistic, conscious approach to food as well as a zero-waste lifestyle, healthy maternity practices, and improved childhood nutrition.

In 2019, Bela was awarded the Zero Hunger Medal by the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization for her efforts and accomplishments in the fight against malnutrition and world hunger.
