Elizabeth Ssendiwala is the Senior Technical Specialist on Rural Institutions for the Asia and the Pacific Region (APR). A passionate advocate for the empowerment of rural communities, she has contributed her expertise to various projects for IFAD and other organizations.

Currently, she supports the design, implementation and completion of IFAD-supported projects throughout the APR region. She also supports engagement with farmers’ organizations and is involved in policy dialogues, partnership strengthening and knowledge management.

In an earlier role with IFAD, Ssendiwala was IFAD’s Gender and Social Inclusion Officer for the East and Southern Africa Region.

Previously, she has worked on gender and social inclusion issues for other organizations, including the Association for Strengthening Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa (ASARECA) and GOAL - Uganda.

Ssendiwala holds a Master’s degree in Gender and Women’s Studies from Makerere University in Uganda.
