The overarching goal of the country strategic opportunities programme for Kyrgyzstan over the next six years is to support agricultural growth and rural transformation, reduce smallholders’ poverty and enable them achieve food security through remunerative, sustainable and resilient livelihoods.
Three strategic objectives (SOs) will be pursued, focused on sectoral priorities identified at the country level and in line with IFAD’s corporate SO of increasing productivity, market participation and environmental sustainability and climate resilience:
- SO1: Increase smallholder productivity and incomes from agriculture with a focus on livestock;
- SO2: Support sustainable natural resource management and enhance smallholders’ resilience to climate change; and
- SO3: Improve rural livelihoods through value addition and income diversification.
