Digital gender inequality in Latin America and the Caribbean

The technological revolution has made it possible for digital connectivity to reach rural areas. However, there is still an enormous amount of work to be done to reduce the disadvantages of rural areas compared to cities and to make the opportunities offered by this revolution available to small-scale producers. Rural women are among the groups most disadvantaged in accessing these technologies.

This publication describes how historical social discrimination against women, and the more recent digital divide, can be both a cause and a consequence of inequalities and how they feed off each other.
