IFAD’s work with poor rural people is indispensable for ending poverty and achieving zero hunger (SDGs 1 and 2). Our work also cuts across key issues that are central to the SDGs – such as gender equality (SDG 5), decent work (SDG 8), reduced inequalities (SDG 10), climate action (SDG 13) environmental sustainability (SDG 15) and partnerships (SDG 17). We are doing more to reach more rural people. Key steps taken in 2019 ensure we are in a solid position to drive recovery efforts in rural economies in a post-COVID-19 world, as well as being able to step in to address the short-term impacts of the crisis.
