Knowledge Management Strategy

IFAD's Knowledge Management Strategy for the period 2019-2025 is part of the organization's approach to increase its development effectiveness. The strategy and its accompanying three-year action plan will help IFAD to leverage the best available and most relevant knowledge, based on both evidence and practice, from its own work, with partners and from other external sources.

Activities will be implemented in three broad areas: knowledge generation, knowledge use, and building the enabling institutional environment for evidence-based learning and knowledge-sharing.

IFAD has placed people at the core of the strategy, recognizing that the knowledge of staff and partners are among its most valuable assets. Alongside knowledge generated through research, impact assessment and evaluation, there will be an emphasis on peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and learning – through tools like communities of practice and networks - to build and curate the organization's knowledge base.

The strategy was developed based on extensive consultation, a critical review of experience and lessons learned over the past decade, and a review of relevant experience in KM in other international organizations.
