The Indigenous Peoples’ Forum at IFAD (IPFI) is a consultative process with Indigenous Peoples’ organizations, IFAD and governments.
IPFI convenes every two years following a series of regional meetings with Indigenous Peoples’ representatives. These ensure that the forum reflects a diversity of perspectives and recommendations from Indigenous Peoples around the world.

The objectives of the IPFI:

  • discuss IFAD’s engagement with Indigenous Peoples among their representatives, Member States and IFAD staff;

  • consult on rural development and poverty reduction;

  • promote the participation of Indigenous Peoples’ organizations in IFAD-supported activities;

  • translate IFAD’s Policy on Engagement with Indigenous Peoples into action; and

  • strengthen IFAD’s leadership on Indigenous issues.
