Flexible support for a sustainable impact

Foundations and philanthropic organizations collaborate with IFAD because of our global reach with key stakeholders, including governments and rural development projects in almost 100 countries worldwide, and because our strategies align with national priorities.

IFAD is a suitable partner for foundations who want to make a sustainable impact in areas including climate adaption for rural communities, smallholder productivity, and food security.

The flexibility of foundation support helps IFAD explore and scale new ideas and proven innovations for rural people.

We partner with key foundations including:

  • Visa Foundation and IFAD creates jobs and income generation opportunities for young people, with a focus on green jobs.
  • HELP Logistics (a non-profit subsidiary company of the Kühne Foundation) and IFAD optimise food and agricultural supply and value chains, thereby enhancing small farmers’ livelihoods and food security.
  • Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and IFAD work together to increase global coordination and investments in agriculture, with a focus on gender, climate, nutrition, livestock, data, and capacity building.
  • The Open Society Foundation and IFAD increase the income of Syrian refugees and host communities in Jordan by helping them establish sustainable sources of income.
  • The Rockefeller Foundation and IFAD are joining forces to end food loss and waste by investing in proven technologies and piloting strategies to bridge the gap between financing needs and financial services.
  • The David and Lucile Packard Foundation and IFAD support indigenous peoples' initiatives by financing projects that foster self-driven development and generate lessons learned for replication and scaling-up.
