Helping vulnerable countries adapt and build resilience to climate change

The Adaptation Fund (AF) supports developing countries as they adapt to climate change. Climate disasters – such as rising sea levels, extreme weather events and changing rainfall patterns – pose significant challenges to vulnerable rural communities.

Since 2010, the AF has committed over US$1 billion towards climate change adaptation and resilience. Its projects and programmes have reached over 43 million people worldwide.

As one of AF’s Implementing Entities, IFAD contributes to the design and implementation of projects that help climate-vulnerable communities adapt to climate change. We build the climate resilience of small-scale producers by reducing poverty, increasing food security, promoting sustainable agricultural practices, and increasing access to knowledge and technologies.
