The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is the world’s largest multilateral climate fund and is part of the UNFCCC’s Financial Mechanism.

The GCF’s network of over 200 Accredited Entities and delivery partners work directly with developing countries to strengthen their ability to respond to climate change through adaptation activities, mitigation technologies and low-emissions solutions.

IFAD has been an Accredited Entity since 2018, supporting six projects that increase the climate resilience of the hardest to reach small-scale farmers. Our work promotes resilient agriculture, facilitates climate-informed advisory and risk management services, and reconfigures food systems and value chains, while helping countries achieve their Nationally Determined Contributions.

In addition, IFAD co-finances GCF projects and fosters collaboration between partners, including designing and implementing programmes with other UN agencies, strengthening the institutional capacity of GCF direct access entities (like development banks) and engaging with the private sector through commercial banks and microfinance institutions.
