Head of Hub and Country Director
Abdoul Wahab Barry is a Country Programme Manager in the West and Central Africa Division at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Barry is currently responsible for the portfolio of Benin, Burkina and Cote d’Ivoire. In this capacity, he is in charge of crafting policies to reduce rural poverty, designing, supervising and managing projects, negotiating loans and grant with borrowing and donor governments, arranging co-financing with other donors.
Prior to joining IFAD in 2006, Barry provided technical assistance to the United Agency for International Development in Mali for the purpose of reducing poverty through improvement in the Malian policy environment. He also worked for Associates for International Resources and Development, a consulting firm based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, and for the World Bank in Washington, DC, USA.
Barry earned his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Michigan State University in 1994; an M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from Michigan State University in 1988; and a BA in Economics from University of Abidjan in 1982.
