Welcome to the
new ifad.org
Things look a bit different here, right!
IFAD's mission has been consistent for almost five decades: invest in rural people.
But the way we communicate about it to the world is constantly changing with the times.
Our new website makes it even easier to find out what we do – and why this matters.

IFAD targeting policy: Reaching the rural poor
The purpose of the present targeting policy is to:
- provide a clear definition of IFAD’s target group and establish a shared conceptual understanding of targeting;
- outline the general principles that will guide IFAD in identifying and reaching the target group, and the methods and means that it will use to this end; and
- provide an overview of how targeting will be addressed in the context of IFAD’s operational instruments.
The policy also provides the framework for the subsequent development of operational guidelines.
