Republic of Yemen Country strategy note
The Country Strategy Note is aligned with the Government commitment to begin the process of rebuilding the country. The need for IFAD to intervene is critical to start the process of rebuilding rural livelihoods, local communities and public institutional capacity.
IFAD’s strategic objectives in Yemen stem from its understanding that Yemen faces a long-term protracted political and developmental crisis that has weakened institutions, disrupted livelihoods, destroyed infrastructure, and made the people extremely vulnerable to food insecurity, malnutrition, poverty and eroded their capacity to withstand economic and climate risks.
There is an urgent need to initiate programmes on the ground that will help rural communities address the growing food insecurity, build their institutions and rebuild their livelihoods.
