IFAD, the UN Office of the Special Adviser for Africa and the World Bank hosted the Global Forum on Remittances, Investment and Development (GFRID) Summit 2023 at the UN Office at Nairobi. Over 650 delegates from Africa and abroad attended the three-day Summit, and participated in the Remittance Marketplace, running parallel thereto.
The summit aimed to improve understanding of migrant and diaspora contributions to development, impacts on national and global policies, and market opportunities for service providers in both remittance and investment ecosystems.
The GFRID 2023 focused on sharing practical mechanisms and models to boost achievement of the SDGs in light of the upcoming dedicated Summit in September this year. Further, it explored innovations to implement the Global Compact for Migration.
