IFAD at COP29

Baku, Azerbaijan

At COP29, IFAD will continue to advocate for climate finance and adaptation for smallholder farmers. We will promote their role in climate change responses and resilient food systems.

Small-scale farmers produce up to 70 per cent of the food in developing countries but receive just a tiny fraction of climate finance. To eradicate poverty and food insecurity – and secure a brighter, greener future for all – small-scale farmers must be brought in to the centre of climate discussions.

Our engagement at COP29 will focus on three themes:

  • Empowering communities for resilience
  • Transforming food systems for climate action
  • Calling for increased investments from the private sector

This year, IFAD is collaborating with partners at pavilions to raise visibility and commitments for the people who need them most.
