Seventh Global Meeting of the Indigenous Peoples' Forum at IFAD
Indigenous Peoples’ right to self-determination: a pathway for food security and sovereignty.
IFAD will participate in the 24th session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII), taking place from 21 April to 2 May 2025 at UN Headquarters in New York City. The session will focus on the theme “Implementing the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples within United Nations Member States and the United Nations system, including identifying good practices and addressing challenges.”
In line with our mandate to promote inclusive and equitable rural transformation, IFAD will contribute to the plenary dialogue highlighting the Indigenous Peoples’ Forum at IFAD as a recognized model of institutional engagement, inclusive dialogue and partnership with Indigenous Peoples.
IFAD will also co-sponsor a side event on the Coalition on Indigenous Peoples’ Food Systems, reaffirming its continued support for Indigenous-led processes and the recognition of Indigenous Peoples’ critical role in shaping sustainable, resilient and culturally grounded food systems. Together, these efforts reflect IFAD's long-standing commitment to advancing Indigenous knowledge and rights into tangible action and impact that extends beyond the Forum.
