IFAD at Desertification COP16
At COP16, IFAD will champion investments and initiatives that generate positive outcomes for land, ecosystems and rural communities.
IFAD president Alvaro Lario will attend the 5th edition of the Paris Peace Forum, an annual gathering organised by the eponymous non-profit that aims to tackle global governance issues.
This year’s iteration of the event will take place on the 10-12 November and will focus on riding out the multicrisis and preserving global cooperation.
The forum will be held at the Brongniart Palace in Paris and is expected to bring together a host of representatives from states, international organizations, businesses, development banks and NGOs from across the world. The aim? To turn solutions into concrete actions.
In this context President Lario will discuss food security and call on world leaders to focus on the most vulnerable populations in the developing world, like small-scale farmers – IFAD’s main beneficiaries.
In his first visit to France as head of IFAD, President Lario will be joined by other participants including WFP Executive Director David Beasley, Argentine President Alberto Fernandez and the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross Mirjana Spoljaric Egger.
