As one of the founding members of IFAD, the Republic of Korea (RoK) is committed to eradicating poverty and hunger, and to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. A model of successful economic and social transformation, RoK has become a major development donor and a key strategic partner of IFAD.
Overtime, RoK has increased contributions to IFAD’s resources. Since 1977, the country has contributed US$73.8 million to IFAD’s regular replenishments and is the Fund’s 30th largest contributor.
For IFAD13 alone, RoK pledged US$ 14.1 million. Additionally, RoK has provided US$7.6 million in supplementary funds to support small-scale producers through information and communication technologies and US$3 million from the Korea International Cooperation Agency to the Agriculture Smallholder Adaptation Programme (ASAP).
