Sharm El Sheikh, 11 November 2022 – As climate negotiations enter a second week of crucial discussions at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Egypt, Sabrina Dhowre Elba, UN Goodwill Ambassador for the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), shines a spotlight on the food security crisis in the Horn of Africa and advocates for increased investments to help small-scale farmers adapt to climate change. Failing to help rural populations adapt could have dire consequences including increased hunger, poverty, migration, instability and conflict.

At the press conference, Sabrina Dhowre Elba, UN Goodwill Ambassador, Dina Saleh, IFAD Regional Director, and Dan Collison, Chief Executive, Farm Africa will highlight the urgent need for climate financing and small-scale farming adaptation solutions to stem the tide of growing hunger across Africa. The unfolding global climate and food crisis in countries like Somalia and Kenya cannot be stopped without urgently needed support to rural communities.
