What: IFAD will be announcing a new official role for celebrity Sherrie Silver - the MTV award-winning choreographer, dancer and actress from Rwanda. There are 1.2 billion young people in the world. More than half of them live in rural areas, and these numbers are growing. Silver will be joined by IFAD Associate Vice-President Charlotte Salford and experts on rural youth.
When: 11:30 - following the opening ceremony of IFAD Governing Council, where Pope Francis will address Member State representatives.
The two-day event, taking place on 14-15 February 2019, will include remarks from President of the Dominican Republic, Danilo Medina Sánchez and the Prime Minister of Italy, Giuseppe Conte.

This year, the IFAD Governing Council meeting and media accreditation will take place at FAO headquarters in Rome, Viale delle Terme di Caracalla. Deadline to request accreditation is 17.00 on 12 February 2019. Journalists need to specify for which days they wish to receive accreditation: the 14/02, the 15/02 or for both days. Journalists are requested to arrive no later than 07:45 to ensure access.
