Jonathan Agwe is the Senior Technical Specialist in Inclusive Rural Financial Services at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). He provides technical advice to improve the capacity of the Fund and its partners to design, implement, supervise, manage and evaluate programmes promoting pro-poor access to sustainable inclusive financial services.
Before joining IFAD, Agwe worked as Operations Officer at the World Bank for 13 years. Prior to that, he worked for 11 years developing private and public sector smallholder and large scale agriculture programs in Cameroon. He also held senior-level positions: Marketing and Field Operations Manager with Unilever Plantations subsidiary, National Coordinator for Post-harvest Management, and Associate Director at the Department of Projects, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Agwe holds a Doctor of Management in Development Management from the University of Maryland, United States; an MA in Economic Policy Management from McGill University, Canada; a MSc in Agricultural Economics from London University, United Kingdom; and Ingénieur des Travaux Agricoles in Agriculture and Rural Development Management from Dschang University, Cameroon.
