Mawira Chitima is the Lead Technical Specialist in Water and Rural Infrastructure at the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). He assists the Fund’s member countries in their efforts to design and implement programmes with water and rural infrastructure components.
Chitima is a specialist in irrigation, rural infrastructure and agricultural investments. He previously worked as a Senior Infrastructure Specialist with Ecorys (United Kingdom), Agricultural Investment Analyst with Mastermind Solutions (Zimbabwe), Project Director at Technoserve (Zimbabwe), Project Manager at SWADE (Swaziland) and Principal Irrigation Specialist at AGRITEX (Zimbabwe).
Chitima holds a bachelor’s degree in agriculture (with honors) from the University of Zimbabwe and a master’s degree in agricultural engineering from Crainfield University, United Kingdom. He is a member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, the Zimbabwe Irrigation Institute and the South African Irrigation Institute.
