Nelida S. M. Alé is Senior Technical Specialist in IFAD’s Agricultural Research for Development (AR4D) unit, leading the design of AR4D projects and programmes. She is the focal point for the European Union’s Development Smart Innovation through Research in Agriculture Plus on Agroecology for Southern Africa programme and the Agricultural Market Information System Steering Committee.
Prior to joining IFAD, Nelida led the European Alliance on Agricultural Knowledge for Development and was a researcher in cooperation for development. She also coordinated FAO’s regional consultation on their biodiversity strategy in Africa.
Nelida Alé has an advanced master’s degree in development cooperation and a doctorate in international relations from the Universities of Pisa and Florence. She holds a master’s degree in leadership business and climate change from the University of Cambridge and a master’s degree in human development from Cornell University.
