Projet de petite irrigation
Dans un pays marqué par un important déficit en eau qui rend toute activité rurale difficile, le projet de petite irrigation devait contribuer à réduire la dépendance croissante de la Mauritanie à l'égard des importations vivrières, par l'augmentation de sa production céréalière.
Le projet s'est employé à élever les revenus agricoles et le niveau nutritionnel et à freiner l'exode rural en fournissant des emplois permanents à la population rurale.
