Project
Second Smallholder Cattle Development Project
Country
Indonesia
Sector
Livestock
Approval Date
05 September 1985
Duration
1985 - 1993
Project ID
1100000171
The main objective of the project was to increase agricultural production on small farms.
The project enabled poor small-scale farmers to acquire breeding cattle and draught animals. It introduced a credit-in-kind system that allowed farmers to obtain cattle on very favourable terms. Many farmers participating in the project used the additional draught animals to open up more land for cultivation. This, in turn, raised agricultural production and household incomes.
