Southern Highlands Smallholder Food Crop Project - IFAD
Southern Highlands Smallholder Food Crop Project
The project supported the efforts of the Tanzanian Government to liberalize national grain trade. It also addressed the inadequate supply of essential materials needed for production, including fuel, fertilizers, agricultural chemicals, tools, equipment and spare parts. The project also assisted the government in improving its projections of demand and delivery of essential materials by establishing a coordinating and monitoring mechanism. Finally, the project helped boost production and procurement and marketing of maize and other crops, and provided funds for importing agricultural products.
