East Java Rainfed Agriculture Project - IFAD
East Java Rainfed Agriculture Project
Farmers of the rainfed uplands of East Java are extremely poor. The project's aim was to increase the production and incomes of these farmers, while protecting the threatened natural resource environment. The project helped farmers expand production of a range of crops, both perennial and annual, and stabilize and protect their land through soil and water conservation measures. Iit supported small, village-based agro-processing enterprises and improved animal husbandry. Providing access to formal financial services for even the smallest farmers was an aim of the project.
