Employment Generation Project
The objectives of this project are to improve smallholder farmers' income and standards of living through increased agricultural productivity and the promotion of income-generating activities. In order to achieve these objectives, the projects aims to:
- Restructure the agricultural system, expanding the smallholder sub-sector
- Introduce appropriate incentive policies and technology suitable for smallholders
- Build institutional capacity through training and technical assistance
- Provide support services, including credit, input supply and marketing
- Ensure effective participation by project beneficiaries.
Project components include small farm development, input storage and distribution improvement, extension support and research, and development of fisheries and coconut-growing. The project area comprises Mahé, Praslin and La Digue islands.
