Southern Highlands Extension and Rural Financial Services Project
The project was designed to increase food security and improve production among poor families in the Southern Highlands, especially among those living in remote areas. To do so, the project supported efforts to:
- improve existing planting materials
- strengthen marketing and access to credit
- develop demand-driven community services and extension programmes
- promote environmentally sound technology and development approaches
All activities were geared towards the poorest families, particularly households with less than 1.6 ha of land and households headed by women.
