North Simbu Rural Development Project - IFAD
North Simbu Rural Development Project
This project aimed to increase economic activity and household income through self-sustaining local initiatives and decentralized, district-level decision-making. It included a range of activities, such as small enterprise development, rural road improvement, community organizing and mobilization, and strengthening of rural institutions.
The project also sought to address gender issues through interventions managed by the Simbu Provincial Women's Council. Among other initiatives, it facilitated microcredit lending and provided support for staff, training and resources for the Simbu Women's Resource Centre, in order to build the centre's capacity.
