En Nahud Cooperative Credit Project - IFAD
En Nahud Cooperative Credit Project
The project’s objective was to increase the income of farming households affected by drought and desertification. Key benefits have been the improvement of credit delivery, reinforcement of agricultural extension services and promotion of cooperative activities.
The project helped farmers organize cooperatives to manage credit. The participatory approach proved highly effective and has since been used as a model for other projects. The project also worked to improve conditions for agricultural production by addressing environmental degradation, improved water supply and inadequate farming practices.
