Welcome to the
new ifad.org
Things look a bit different here, right!
IFAD's mission has been consistent for almost five decades: invest in rural people.
But the way we communicate about it to the world is constantly changing with the times.
Our new website makes it even easier to find out what we do – and why this matters.

Smallholder Development Project for Marginal Areas
One of the main objectives of the project was to help smallholders increase their productivity. It also aimed to help improve household food security and increase the incomes of farmers and herders in drought-prone areas affected by soil erosion and land degradation. The project:
- helped reduce poverty
- raised awareness about environmental preservation
- introduced proven technology for soil and water conservation and rehabilitation of degraded land
- improved farming practices
- developed small-scale irrigation
