South Gansu Poverty-Reduction Programme - IFAD
Villages in remote mountainous areas of the middle-southern part of Gansu Province are home to the poorest of the poor. The programme's objectives are to increase food security and incomes in the area. It works to increase production and both on-farm and off-farm opportunities, and to improve poor people's access to rural financial services and to education, health and social networks.
Investments support improvements in rural infrastructure, access to financial services and education, and grass-roots organizations, particularly women's organizations. Protection of common resources is also a priority.
