Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Modular Rural Development Programme - IFAD
Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Modular Rural Development Programme
This programme aims to contribute to the sustainable reduction of absolute poverty and promote gender equality in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Programme beneficiaries are from groups that often lack skills and have limited access to financial resources, including members of extremely poor and low-income households – particularly those headed by women.
The specific objectives of the programme include:
- Enabling women and men in poor households to improve their social and economic situation, and earn incomes above the poverty line
- Test innovations on a pilot basis to demonstrate their potential for poverty reduction
- Successfully apply positive pilot results on a larger scale, adjusting for local conditions
- Both in the pilot activities and in their subsequent scale-up, ensure that at least 50 per cent of all beneficiaries are women.
