Rural Inclusion Pilot Project - IFAD
This project aims to provide the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries with evidence on validated tools to be used in implementing public policy for rural poverty reduction. The development objective is to provide poor rural people with new mechanisms for participation and with services to improve their living conditions and quality of life.
Project components include:
- Strengthening human and social capital by funding proposals presented by member organizations, principally to meet the needs of the most disadvantaged people, as well as training rural workers and strengthening rural organizations
- Positioning family producers within value chains and markets by providing technical assistance, making investments in productive assets and setting up sustainable rural finance systems.
The project encompasses an area along a south-north axis, from the north-east of Canelones to the southeast of Tacuarembó. The target group includes poor rural people with at least one unmet basic need, particularly small-scale producers, rural wage earners and family producers.
